Middle Route Project: the water is drawn from Taocha & Qushou floodgate at the outlet of Dangjiangkou Reservior in the mid-upstream of Hanjiang River, going through Fangcheng bealock at the watershed between Yangtze River and Huaihe River, along the channel on the west edge of Tang Baihe River and Huanghuaihai Plain, through the tunnel across Yellow River near Henan Zhengzhou, along the west side of Beijing-Guangzhou Railway going north and flowing into Tuancheng Lake of Beijing Summer Palace. The middle route is mainly designed to provide domestic and industrial water for more than 20 cities in Henan, Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin along the water delivery line. The overall length of the main water delivery canal is 1,227 km, while the main canal delivering to Tianjin is 154 km. The Middle Route Project of South-North Water Diversion is designed to settle the issue of municipal water and industrial water in North China. The yearly water transferred volume planned in first-stage is 9.7 billion cubic meters, while 13 billion cubic meters for the final.
